One of Canada’s largest dairy processers, Saputo was facing increased competition from the recent introduction of international brands to the dairy category.

Building off their solid Italian roots, a contemporary packaging system was designed that conveys heritage, and the quality and care that goes into making Saputo Italian cheeses.

Roots Run Deep

Cohesion Strategies of Montreal had been working with Saputo for an extended period to develop a strong strategic foundation. Through familarisation sessions, competitive audits, retail visits, and facility tours they unearthed a number of key insights that we worked together to bring to life through the design.

2.        An unwavering passion for quality cheese making.

3.        The need to create strong visual equity in the category.

4.        With over 70 skus and multiple types and formats of cheese, customer navigation would be critical.

The strong use of red was utilized to give the brand strong shelf presence. A series of bold Italian inspired typefaces and specially commissioned decorative elements were developed to give the design a uniquely contemporary Italian feel and reflect the rich family history of cheesemaking.
